What We're All About

Lockport was Tuscarawas County's first brewery in over 65 years, specializing in locally-made craft brews, food, and other specials.

Our mission is to use our passion for craft beer to make our corner of the world a better place. We aim to create experiences that bring people together, build opportunities for our crew, support our local community, and protect the environment.

History

The name "Lockport" comes from the "Old Lockport Lager", brewed by the local New Philadelphia Brewing Company before prohibition. We adopted the name to honor the rich brewing history of the area, with an ode to the locks and canals that pass through our communities.

Andrew cut his teeth home brewing before becoming an assistant brewer at Millersburg Brewing Company under Brewmaster Marty Lindon. After years of planning, the sale of our house, and help from some family and friends, the dream of owning our own brewery became a reality in November 2016.

Quickly after opening, we realized we were undersized for the demand. We added tanks, but by July 2018 we purchased the old Georgios Restaurant across the street, located on Wilkshire Golf Course, and began renovations. That same year, Gateway American-Style Cream Ale won a Gold Medal at the Great American Beer Festival.

 

Renovations to our new facility were completed in July 2019, and we opened with sixteen taps and an expanded food menu.
